Christie was born and raised in West Virginia and has worked for 20 years in the tech industry. She is the owner of Athena Blue, LLC where she works as a programmer for clients across the East Coast, and Apocalypse Gaming, LLC where she works as a graphic designer and animator for the gaming community. She writes for Hill Tree Roastery, a single-source, small batch coffee roaster out of Huntington, West Virginia, and her travel blog, Wild and Wanderin’.
Christie is passionate about helping others living with chronic pain and shares many of her recipes, natural remedies, and lifestyle changes on the Pain-Free Journey blog. After suffering with debilitating chronic pain in her back and sternum since childhood, and being diagnosed with scoliosis, multiple herniated discs, pinched nerves, fused joints, and Ankylosing Spondylitis, Christie has found methods to control her chronic pain by following a plant-based, sugar-free, and starch-free diet alongside many other lifestyle changes.
Feeling as though her health was being disregarded by her employer, she left her Corporate job in November 2020. Since then, she has started two companies and 3 blogs, so that she could work independently and be in full control of her health. She started the Pain-Free Journey blog to share her experiences in hopes of helping others not suffer.
In addition to the Pain-Free Journey blog, YouTube Channel, and Facebook page, she has offered free online training, and has volunteered with elementary schools, the Department of Defense Education Activity for the Hour of Code 2020, and the Center for Independent Living learning how to implement Section 508 standards of web design for users with disabilities.
